		Issue 10: Free Write Send all submissions to: "submissions at berealmag dot com" Submissions due January 15, 2003 The creators of Be Real Magazine were befuddled this time around when it came to choosing a theme for this issue. We threw around a couple ideas: first Passion (too scary), then Dreams (too Oprah), then Pleasure (too SARK). But we didn't really connect with any of them. One day before launch of the POWER issue, still befuddled, one of our staff members threw her hands up in the air and said "Let 'em write whatever they WANT to write!" Yes! And we can call it "FREE WRITE," another member chimed in. So there you have it, a theme that isn't a theme. Wide open. Everything is up for grabs. Write stories you want to write. Write poems you want to write. Take photos and create art that you want to create. You're in charge. Whatever sings to you, sing it on over to us. If you want some context, remember our recurring columns ALWAYS need fresh new submissions: Letters to My Younger Self, Moody Girl, Books That Changed My Life, Visualize This, Universe Spoke To Me, and Firsts. Oh, and please keep sending in your Real Dreams, too! Take a chance! Get out your pens and paper, write something, then send it in. We'll take it from there. 		Issue 11: Play Send all submissions to: "submissions at berealmag dot com" Submissions due March 1, 2003 Do you know why we write these blurbs about the upcoming issues of Be Real Magazine? It's because we want to inspire you to contribute your writing and artwork! We hope that we can spark your interest (this may feel like lighting the fuse on the stick of dynamite that you're sitting on). The theme for Issue 11 of Be Real Magazine will be PLAY! How about if we all write about what we do when we play? (sports? movies? Yahtzee?) What does the word "play" mean to you? Playing is supposed to be fun, but is it always? Playing is about trying new things, experimenting, making messes, and laughing as we clean them up. Kids have this down pat. Experiment with styles of poetry that you've never tried before, take pictures of silly things, paint playful pictures with your fingers, write about the last time you really, truly played with all your heart. And you know, if you really need inspiration, you can take the Play With Your Words writing workshop. If you want to submit something to Be Real Magazine, just send it in! Especially for the Play Issue, take a chance and submit something fun! We love and adore all of our contributors…. and we would love to play with YOU.
