Soleil was a beautiful baby girl
sun. Even
as an infant, she sure knew how to shine.
And shine she did.
She shined brightly for all in the galaxy to see.
All
day long, she played with the plants and animals. They loved to see her sparkle.
She loved to caress their backs with her radiant, warm
sunbeams. When
night dropped his curtain, she slept deeply.
A
happy and confident little star, Soleil shared all her gifts
and talents. She
sprinkled the oceans with confetti light.
She heated the earth to pop plants open.
She smiled through rain clouds to create rainbows.
All was sunny in her kingdom.
All was sunny with her friends and family.
One
day, completely out of nowhere, two big, loud, bully planets
slammed right into Soleil.
They scared her and pushed her.
They called her names, like “Little Miss Goody Two
Shoes” and “Miss Silly Sunshine.”
Soleil hated being called names and felt devastated. Afraid
the bully planets would harm her, she ran away. She hid behind some rain clouds and sobbed and sobbed.
No one could help her.
They didn’t know where to find her.
The bully planets succeeded at intimidating Soleil.
It delighted them to see her stop shining.
In the dark, they could now do many bad things.
They trampled on the beautiful plants and beat up the
animals. They left a big mess everywhere they went. No
one could see them, except Soleil who could see everything
from her hiding place.
She saw her friends start to die.
They missed her warm, radiant sunshine.
The flowers drooped.
The animals shriveled up and struggled to move.
Soleil
hated seeing anyone in pain, especially her friends. She ignored her fears and came out of hiding when she saw the
animals begin to lose their hair and teeth.
Instead of sobbing like a crybaby, she acted like a big
girl. She rescued
the plants and animals by radiating brighter than ever before.
She shined from North Pole to South Pole and from the
mountaintops to the bottom of the oceans.
She thought about how much she loved her friends.
It helped her beam more brightly.
Her
loving sunshine healed her friends.
The plants perked up.
The animals laughed.
Her friends were happy and healthy again. Soleil smiled
and shined more intensely.
Never before had she sparkled so brightly. Soleil’s
sunshine infuriated the bully planets.
How dare she shine?
They yelled, “Sugar Pie Sunshine” and “Miss
Stupid Sunshine.” She was so focused on
helping her friends that she didn’t hear these names.
“Hooray Soleil, Hooray Soleil, Hooray Soleil” cheered the
plants and animals. The
bully planets could see that Soleil was no longer intimidated.
How dare the plants and animals cheer for Soleil?
They became so angry they threw stones at Soleil’s
head. She
didn’t notice these stones.
They flew through her and right past her. “Hooray
Soleil, Hooray Soleil, Hooray Soleil” screamed the plants
and animals. The
bully planets couldn’t stop Soleil from shining. That
frustrated the bully planets because they always got their
way. The
bully planets became so angry they threw sticks.
Soleil didn’t notice these sticks.
They flew through her and right past her.
“Hooray Soleil, Hooray Soleil, Hooray Soleil”
boomed the plants and animals. “We’ll
teach that goody-two shoes a lesson” said the bully planets.
“You asked for it Soleil.” They threw huge
boulders. Soleil
didn’t notice these huge boulders.
They flew through her and right past her.
“Hooray Soleil, Hooray Soleil, Hooray Soleil”
howled the plants and animals. Exhausted
from throwing stones, sticks and boulders, the bully planets
ran away. They
were afraid to look weak and tired.
Soleil was invincible and it terrified them.
They had no way to control her.
Their weapons went right through her, without her even
flinching. The
animals and plants shouted, HOORAY SOLEIL! HOORAY SOLEIL!
HOORAY SOLEIL! Soleil
smiled shyly. She
blushed as she let out a gleeful giggle. Later
that night, Soleil was too excited to fall asleep. She tossed and turned as she relived the day’s highlights.
She consoled herself with many loving thoughts.
I can protect myself and friends from any bully
planets. I am a
sun goddess. I can shine, no matter what. When sticks and
stones are being thrown, I’ll still shine on my throne.
With that happy thought, she sighed and fell asleep. The
moral of the story is we shine when we focus on loving our
friends, not fearing our enemies.
Our focus makes us powerful and invincible.
