Issue 7: Trust
Rough Drafts due April 1, 2002
Issue Released End of Spring 2002

The theme for Spring 2002 will be “TRUST”.  Take a deep breath and pour out your feelings on the topic of trust in your life.  Or the lack of trust in your life.  We wanted to write about Trust early on at Be Real Magazine, but none of us felt like we were ready.  Now that we have lived through an entire amazing year of creating the magazine with nothing BUT trust, we are finally ready to crack open the subject.  We invite you to write about moments when you have lived through perils with nothing but unreasonable trust to keep you going.  We invite you to write about trusting yourself.  We invite you to share stories of miracles happening because of trust and faith.  And we ask you also to write about the days when faith was the furthest thing from you.  As always, we appreciate the unbelievable amount of courage it takes to submit your writings to us.  Thank you for your willingness.

Issue 8:  Power
Rough Drafts due July 1, 2002
Issue Released End of Summer 2002

At Be Real Magazine we choose topics that interest and excite us and that we want to learn more about.  Through writing, editing and putting together each issue, we find ourselves steeped in the current topic.  Power is something that at times we struggle to create, often manage to hide, and can suddenly discover deep within at surprising times.  The idea of power seems to both encourage and baffle us.  Some people, especially women, are afraid of their own power.  Meaning gets tangled when we do not discern between a benevolent (yet strong) inner power and power used to manipulate, oppress, and dominate others.

We want to know how you define your personal power.  Is yours a quiet, still power?  Or a loud booming power?  Or is yours an excitable, contagious kind of power?  Or a unique, quirky kind of power.  Ask yourself and let us know what you discover!  Have you been shocked by moments of witnessing your own tremendous power?  Do you give your power away?  How do you feel when that happens?  Whom do you know that is truly powerful?  How can you spot someone of power?  From where do you draw your greatest power?  What are some of your “power rituals” -- the little things you do in life to bolster yourself or call on your inner reserves of power?

We all can learn from one another’s experiences.  Please share with us about power in the form of stories, articles, poems, artwork, or simply brief comments.

Thank you for contributing to Be Real Magazine.
