It is Thursday night and I am attending my weekly "Developing your Clairvoyant Skills" class. Six of us women are gathered in a semi-circle facing our teacher, Shelley, and laughing as she gets to the punch line of a joke.

After our laughter has died down, silence fills the room as Shelley clears her throat.

"Okay", she begins. "As I mentioned last week, tonight I am going to have your read each other's chakras. Chakras, as you will recall, are energy centers located in the body. Our life force travels through these seven main points, or chakras. When you do the reading for your partner you may ‘see’ the chakra as spiraling vortices of energy, light, or color.  In the interest of time you will pick just one chakra for your partner to look at and have them describe what they see."

We nod and she proceeds to partner us up. Shelley gets to me and says, "Okay, Kristin, you will be paired up with Diana."

I can feel my body reacting in one big "NO!"

Diana is very "out there", even according to New-Age standards. Not a class goes by that she doesn't complain about entities being attached to her or blaming her bad week (I’ve only known her to have bad weeks) due to her stars being out of alignment. There is also the fact that she is very hyper and high-strung and I often feel myself getting nervous simply by looking at her.  It is not uncommon for Diana to interrupt Shelley with stories that have absolutely nothing to do with what we were previously discussing. If that wasn’t enough to send me over the edge, Diana has wild, curly blonde hair that looks as though it hasn’t seen a comb (and maybe a wash) in a couple of years and she is armed with a raspy Brooklyn accent that affects me in the same way that fingernails on a chalkboard affect some people. Hearing her voice makes me want to run shrieking from the room.

This is not who I want to be paired up with for my very first chakra reading. I begin sending Shelley BIG psychic "new partner" vibes but either she chooses not to hear them or doesn't care. She has moved on to announce the next set of partners and I am stuck with Diana.

I take a deep breath and pick up my chair to sit across from Diana. "Shall I read you first?"  I ask innocently.

"Sure, why don't you go first," she replies as she tries unsuccessfully to smooth her wild hair with her hands.

"Okay." I prepare to do the reading and close my eyes. I call on my guide, Orion, to assist me with the reading and instantly I feel his huge energy standing tall behind me. I feel powerful and centered and no longer judgmental about Diana.

"Please say your name for me three times," I say with my eyes closed.

Diana says her first and last name and I ask what chakra she would like me to focus on.  "My seventh chakra," she says.

I "look" and see a brilliant green light hovering above her head, or crown, chakra. The crown chakra represents the source-point for receiving spiritual energy. Out of the seven chakras, some spiritual masters believe this is the most powerful one as this is how we access our connection to God.

I tell Diana what I see. "It is a beautiful color," I say. "The color of mint-chip ice cream without the chips."

She giggles.

"Okay, what does this green color mean?" I say aloud to myself. There is a brief moment where I can feel myself getting worried that the information will elude me but I am, thankfully, able to just notice the worried feelings and let them go.

I see the word "CHANGE" in huge letters above her head. An image of Diana quickly replaces the word. I am shocked at what I see and I gasp.

"What is it?" Diana asks excitedly.

"I see you standing on a small hill. Your posture is straight and tall. You are wearing an outfit like....who is that warrior-princess woman on TV?", I ask.

"Do you mean Xena?", Diana replies.

"Yes! Xena! Exactly. Just like that. You are wearing a leopard-fur bra and short skirt. Your hair is held back in a high ponytail. Thick rope is holding this ponytail together. Damn! You are beautiful. Beautiful and powerful. You are very tan. Strong. Lean. Your thigh muscles are amazing!"

We both laugh.

"You are holding a sword," I continue. "No...not a sword. A long, slender arrow-type device." I am grasping for the right word to describe this object that I see.

"A lance?" Shelley, our instructor, interjects behind me.

"Yes! Exactly. A lance."

In my mind's eye this Diana that I see is nothing like the one sitting across from me. This one is confident. Calm. Strong. Powerful. I squint out of my closed eyes at the Diana in front of me just to check out the contrast. No comparison except for the same facial features.

I close my eyes again. "There is a sense of peace over you. You know that you are in a good place. You are where you have aspired and worked to be and that hard inner work has created this sense of peace and power." The words flow out of my mouth, uncensored.

"So what does it mean"? Diana asks impatiently.

The Diana warrior-princess-goddess blinks at me and smiles. It is as if she can hear the impatience in the real Diana's voice.

”Okay, why are you here and what are you trying to show me?” I ask telepathically.

She raises her lance in a victory pose high above her head. Suddenly there are throngs of warrior women around her. I see myself and the other women in our class around this Xena woman. We are joined by many women I do not recognize. All of us are dressed in fur and are powerful and strong and carrying lances high above our heads.

"I know! I know why she is here!" I can barely contain my enthusiasm. "She is what you are becoming!"

Can this really be? This nervous, hyperactive, ungrounded woman can become Xena? And can all of us women become Xena?  I ask myself silently.

Xena-Diana nods wisely at me and winks.

"Wow!" I say.

"Wow!" says Diana.

I say thank you and goodbye to the Warrior Princess, open my eyes and smile at Diana. She beams back at me.

I see Diana with new eyes now. I actually look forward to getting paired up with her. I can now see past her quirks, quirks like we all have, into the beauty that she is and the Power that is coming--for her and for me and for all of us as we become our Most Powerful Female Self.
