Issue 5: Bravery
Will Be Released Late Autumn 2001
Rough drafts due September 15, 2001

The theme for the Fall issue will be "Bravery".  We are all brave as we face the various daily challenges that life spills out in front of us.  Sometimes it takes great amounts of courage just to make it through a single day.  Other times, we feel like we can slay any dragon and then spit fire ourselves.  Often we are unaware of our bravery until someone points it out to us:  How are we able to handle such painful events with such apparent ease and grace?  How can we extend our our hands out to help others, when we ourselves are fighting our own battles?

Reflect on the meaning of bravery in YOUR life, and please share some of those reflections with us.  If you feel like you're not brave at all, please share those thoughts too (when a person admits their vulnerabilities they pave the way for all of us to examine and embrace our humanity with compassion).

Also in the upcoming Bravery Issue we will be including a segment on Masks.  Many of us within the Be Real tribe have had the privilege of creating masks of our own faces.  This was a wonderfully creative process as well as a powerful experience, as we continue to question when and why we wear the metaphoric masks in our lives.  If you have a photo of a mask you've made or a story to tell about it, we would like to see it or hear it.

Honor your spirit and tell us about your experiences of finding unimaginable bravery within yourself.  Any tales you have to tell are invited to be told.

Issue 6: Friendship
Will be released Late Spring 2002
Rough drafts due January 15, 2002

Friendship is probably one of the most important aspects of our lives.  Friendship topics include collaboration, cooperation, how we deal with others in every relationship and how we communicate with one another, and many, many more. How does a particular friendship feed your spirit?  What kind of a difference has friendship made in your life?  Are you and your parents “friends” with each other?  What kind of a friend are you?  What kind of a friend do you really need right now?  Who is your best friend and why?  Write and tell us how you feel about your most special and sacred friendships.

Also in this issue:  Talking about our “friend” that visits us once a month. Let’s share our feelings about menstruation.  How do you celebrate, contemplate, tolerate, commiserate, and medicate when you have your period? All of your comments (short or lengthy) on the subject of menstrual periods are welcomed!  (Don’t worry!  We will make extra room in Moody Girl for all of you to scream your heads off about PMS!!)
