As the daffodils begin timidly poking through the soil in hopes of a warm welcome, and the dull brown of winter turns into the brilliant green of spring, it is the perfect time for us to join nature in renewal.

This spring, as you shed your wooly winter sweater, try shedding your inhibitions and letting your inner child out to play.  For most of us the demands of our careers and our families leave us little time to abandon our responsibilities to indulge in play.  But we can't abandon play altogether.

Allow yourself time to indulge your inner child; let her lead the way from time to time.  How can you do that?

Dance in the rain and jump in the puddles without giving a second thought to the dry-cleaning bill.

Lick a cherry lollipop.  Revel in the sticky sweetness.

Jump rope with your child.

Giggle.

Walk barefoot - spring is one of the few times it's warm enough to venture outside without boots.

Make sandcastles.  Take plastic pails and shovels to the beach and spend the day creating your dream home.

Paint your toenails wild colors - if you're feeling very daring, paint each of your toenails a different color.
Play dress up; try new colors and styles for spring.

Before making the bed, jump on it until you are completely out of breath.

Watch "Mary Poppins" - if "A Spoonful of Sugar" doesn't put you in the mood for spring, I don't know what will.

Use toys in the bathtub.  Rubber ducks needn't be reserved for children alone.

Dance.  Turn on your favorite CD and dance the night away.  All alone?  Even better.

Turn off all of the lights and make shadow puppets.

A warm spring day is the perfect time to lay in the grass and watch the clouds go by.
