The Universe Spoke To Me

I’m not one who usually believes in the universe speaking to me, but when it hits me upside the head, I have to listen. I was missing home recently, and several of my friends from home encouraged me to move home sooner than June, as I had planned. I kept coming up with reasons that it wouldn’t work. So the Universe took over.

My roommates that live upstairs came down Wednesday night: We’re moving out. We gave the landlord our notice 2 weeks ago.

They came back down Friday night: The landlord is planning to raise the rent almost $150 a month. Okay, maybe I can move home earlier than planned; I can afford that for a couple of months.

The real estate agent came through on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and my roommates came down again that night: He’s decided the rent is going up almost $200 a month, and if you aren’t going to stay, he wants you out by the end of December.

Well, let’s see what kind of plane tickets I can find. What?? I found tickets for only $118 from San Francisco to Baltimore? Okay, I get it! There’s a reason I need to be home. So I will be flying into Baltimore at around 9PM EST. - Kristin Montgomery
