I'm enchanted.... but I didn't get to sleep last night, because I clicked on to a link on Boggle.

I also read the three articles in issue 12, concerning synchronicity, and the book recommendations, and today I'll read the past issues.

In the words of our Governator.... "I'll be baaaaack".

God bless, Christine in Los Angeles

I think its a great place for budding writers to hone their talents and gain some confidence. I would like to know if you are taking any submissions for the year 2004 and when is the next last date?

Karishma

We have changed the guidelines for submissions, there are no more themes, and we welcome writing submissions at all times.  Please email your submissions to "submissions at berealmag dot com" replacing "at" and "dot" with the characters @ and .  Thanks!

This isn't so much about Be Real as it is about Richard Bach. I am Chairman and Chief Editor of Hampton Roads Publishing Company. We have just published Richard Bach's "Messiah's Handbook" -- the book Donald Shimoda was quoting in Illusions.

Thanks for your own work spreading the word!  Our URL is www.hrpub.com

Best wishes,

This last letter is a response to the invitation sent by the publisher to the mailing list, the invitation follows this letter.

Dear Julie:

I stumbled upon Be Real Magazine during a very difficult time in my life. I had just found out that the love of my life was engaged to be married to another woman (he had been engaged the entire length of our relationship, but as all pathological liars do best, he hid it from me completely), felt like I was going nowhere with my job, and I felt completely alone, isolated and clueless. As I was surfing the net at work I somehow found my way to Be Real magazine. After reading through the beautiful tales in your synchronicity issue, I saw parallels in your talented writers' lives that reasonated with my own.

Your independent, free-flowing, and free-thinking magazine helped give me hope that life does get better. You take in the bad (even the awful), as you do the good. As we go through our very own trials and tribulations in life, we as human beings have each other to get us through. Even if we don't know each other, we can still provide counsel and inspiration to each other through writing and creativity.

With that said, whatever you choose for Be Real Magazine's next chapter, I know that it will be something of value. I hope that I can help in any way possible. I would like to become a part of a community that has helped me through a very dark time in my life and made me realize that the world is my oyster.

Thanks and keep up the great work!

The original letter:

Happy Monday...

My beautiful six month old daughter is napping next to me. I want to get up for the candy corn I bought yesterday, but if I do, she'll wake, so instead I'll type.

There's something new waiting for Be Real Magazine, I keep waiting perhaps too patiently for "what's next" to show up knocking at my door. There are a few ideas playing bumper cars in my brain, but none of them I can do alone.

I ponder transforming Be Real into a nonprofit organization, that promotes new writers, musicians, and artists, but how? I dream of adding new life and energy into the virtual pages, but how?

So here I am, doing what I do worst, I'm asking for help.

I am seeking out ideas for what you would like, treasured readers and contributors, what would benefit you? Is the magazine perfect the way it is, and maybe I'm just getting restless being at home, my routine dictated by someone two feet tall? Maybe we just need to keep on putting out an issue every three to four months? Do you like what you're reading?

What would make a difference to you?

Post to the
list, if you like, or email me directly if you prefer at "whatsnext at berealmag dot com".  But do let me know, as at the moment I feel a bit stuck and could use your advice-tow-trucks to help me out.

best,
Julie Russell
